Lean times ahead

It looks like it's time for people to start tightening their belts. The banking system in the UK is suffering due to the collapse of US sub prime mortgages, with the result that banks are not even lending to each other at the moment. This will slow the whole financial market down. If you were looking for a loan or mortgage in the near future, don't be upset if they reject you...

If the financial world does crash, then have you thought how it will affect you?

From my point of view, I have a number of websites that should get extra traffic, in the area of debt management. These all pay a decent amount per lead. I also have lots of content sites and forums. As the nights draw in, and money becomes less available, I should see increasing traffic. Traffic = Revenue.

Finally, if a full recession bites, then many mid to large businesses take the opportunity to invest in new projects to help them escape the worst of the recession. This should also help with extra work, especially as ASP.NET / C# is now a very high demand skill....

Where did the Summer go?

Apart from a two week break in Devon, I've had my head in various projects, and haven't had time to come up for air! This has involved various client projects and various personal projects.

In that time, I have also become a Nominet member, so can register UK domain names directly, and have written a drop catching utility, which will hopefully enable me to catch some good valuable domain names that are due to drop. OK, I'm battling against hundreds of others, but hey, I'll give it a go!

Kids are back at school now, so work is getting a bit easier - peace at last! :-)
